The replacement of motorcycle handlebars can be motivated by aesthetic, comfort or handling reasons. It will highly influence how you feel riding your motorcycle. Here is all you need to know for that step of your custom project.

An high handlebar with much swipe to the rider offers a comfortable riding position, our BAAK N°1 and Flat Track handlebars are good examples of this. Whereas a flat and straight handlebar enables you get a riding position more in the front, more aggressive and with the elbows opened, just like our Fatbar N°1 handlebar.
The diameter of a handlebar can be different between two bikes. The usual constant diameters are Ø22mm and Ø25,4mm (1 inch). However, handlebars with variable diameters exist, like the “Fatbar” standard that is Ø28,6mm on the clamping area and 22mm on the controls area. Then, pay attention to the diameter of your original handlebar clamps.
Before changing your handlebar, make sure the original cables are long enough. If not, you must go for the long cables kit available for your model. Also make sure that it fits your original handlebar controls. Some controls are hold by a keyed connection to prevent it from spinning. If it is, you will have to drill your handlebar to place this keyed connection in it.

At BAAK’s, our handlebars are manufactured out of steel or stainless steel as it’s materials that absorb the shocks, are resistant in case of a fall and offer a better comfort than carbon or aluminium.

HOW TO MEASURE MOTORCYCLE HANDLEBARS

The height, the width and the pullback are the 3 measures that define the shape of a handlebar. The first bend of your handlebar tube defines the position of your arms. The stronger this bending is, the more your handlebar will be high. The second bending defines the position of your hands. the stronger this bending is, the more the handlebar will offer swipe / pullback to the rider.

The opposite blueprint is based on our BAAK N°1 handlebar in 25,4mm diameter, also show on the photo above.
